Nokia Lumia 520 becomes incredibly cheap in the UK

The Lumia 520 has always been Nokia’s cheapest Windows Phone 8 device, but it’s never been this cheap. In the UK, thanks to a special offer from the well known retailer Carphone Warehouse, you can now pick up this smartphone for as low as £59.95. That’s incredible value for money, as we’re talking about a Pay as you go arrangement here, and no signing of any long-term contracts is involved.

That dirt cheap price applies to Pay as you go upgrades. These are offered on Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, and Virgin Mobile at this price, and also on O2 for £10 more for whatever reason. A Pay as you go upgrade applies if you have had a PAYG account for at least six months and have topped it up regularly
If you don’t qualify for such an upgrade, then the price of the phone will be £79.95, which is still considerably cheaper than the price you need to pay for a SIM-free handset (sans the PAYG bolted on). Do keep in mind though that getting a new PAYG SIM requires a mandatory £10 first top-up to be made when you get the device. Though you can obviously then use that for calls and such, and you’re still in under-£100 territory even so.

The Lumia 520 isn’t this cheap without compromising on specs here and there, but that’s to be expected. Still, it’s a perfectly capable model to help you dive straight into the Windows Phone world.
