Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry WhatsApp users now have the option to send and receive audio messages. Recordings include previews before sending and receipts for when a contact has listened to the message. Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone 8 users can automatically set audio based on phone position. Holding the phone close to the ear will play messages normally, but WhatsApp uses proximity sensors to know when the phone is held away and then automatically switches to speakerphone.
