How to deactivate start screen feature and boot directly to desktop in Windows 8.1

We all know that Windows 8.1 is the newest version of Windows that available today.Through this new version Microsoft has tried to solve all the problems that existed in the previous version Windows 8 ,which differ from Windows 7.
Windows 8 provide a start screen which contains the applications installed on your computer on every log in or start up.This cause some difficulties among some users .So in Windows 8.1 Microsoft provides a better option to deactivate that feature and then directly jump in to the traditional desktop according to the users demand.
The start screen features is developed mainly for tablet and smartphone users for making their usage more easy.But the traditional users get hated with that desktop.

How to boot directly to desktop?

First of all, go to your desktop (press the ‘Win’ key). Else you can also click on the ‘Desktop’ tile if you’ve already pinned it to your start screen.

From the desktop screen, right-click on the task bar and choose ‘Properties’. In case of a hidden task bar, simply hover your mouse at the bottom-edge to make it appear.


Once clicked on the ‘Properties’ option, you’ll get a pop-up that contains the ‘Taskbar and Navigation properties’. Switch to the ‘Navigation’ tab.

In that tab, you’ll find the option that says ‘Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in’ under the ‘Start screen’ section. Simply, Enable this option.

Restart your computer to see the changes in effect.
That’s it! You’ll now be greeted with your desktop instead of the Start screen. In future if you’ve decided to show the start screen on boot up, then simply head over to the Properties (steps 1 to 4) and then uncheck the option ‘Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in’.
