Sony BRAVIA Smart Stick

Sony’s upcoming BRAVIA Smart Stick is a device you can plug into your TV’s HDMI port to stream internet video, surf the web, play games, or use other apps on your TV. It looks a bit like a Google Chromecast or an Android Mini PC, but according to Sony, the BRAVIA Stick is basically a Google TV with some Sony apps preloaded.

It just happens to be the smallest Google TV box released to date, but it will come with a wireless remote that looks an awful lot like the one Sony has been shipping with its other Google TV devices.

Sony published a few photos and details about the BRAVIA Smart Stick on September 13th, but the page has been removed. More details are expected on September 15th, but the user manual was still available online as of Friday night.

According to that guide, the user interface supports home screen widgets and wallpapers, the device features the Google Chrome browser, and if you connect it to your cable or satellite box, you’ll be able to use picture-in-picture functions.

Like other recent Google TV devices, the Smart Stick will support voice controls when you speak into the mic in the remote control.
